The Mississippi Low-Income Child Care Initiative (MLICCI) was founded by and works with those most impacted by and reliant upon our state child care subsidy program: low-income working families and the child care providers who serve them. MLICCI has worked intensively with child care center providers and parent leaders at 45 centers across Mississippi. MLICCI’s mission is to:
· Enhance the quality of child development experiences for low-income working families;
· Advocate for improved policies and greater public investment in child care subsidy programs for low-income working families; and,
· Build a strong, grassroots constituency.
Since its founding, MLICCI has made significant progress toward accomplishing its ambitious goals. MLICCI has pushed the state to invest over $50 million more in the child care subsidy program and reform policies to improve parental access and retention of services. MLICCI has improved quality through capacity-building technical assistance and financing improvements centers can’t afford on their own.
