UPLAN 2024 National Gathering

About 200 parent leaders, staff, and partners gathered for UPLAN’s 2024 National Gathering (#UPLAN2024) in Washington, D.C., from May 15-17. This bilingual (English & Spanish) event was a space to reconnect, strengthen relationships, and advocate.

The gathering provided a space to reconnect face to face, build and strengthen relationships, and advocate for the policies that impact our families. Together we lifted each other up as parent leaders, learned from one another and pushed for national change!

During our #UPLANAction Day we used our collective power to advocate for the policy priorities of parents in our early care and education (ECE), immigration, and ‘real’ parent engagement campaigns.

Key Highlights:

  • Twelve Parent-Led Workshops: Click here to see the workshops provided.
  • National Parents Promoting Partnership Parade: Watch our rally on Capitol Hill live-streamed on Facebook, reaching over 2,000 views.
  • Eighty-Six Legislative Meetings: Our members met with Senators and Representatives to champion policies benefiting families in child care and early education, immigration, and ‘real’ parent engagement.
  • Engagement with Key Officials: Meetings were held with officials from the White House, Department of Education, Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families, and Department of Homeland Security.

“It was a great experience to learn and engage with others who are so passionate about issues that involve ECE [Early Care and Education], immigration, and parent engagement. Was great to connect with other organizations and as a father, meeting all these other fathers who are involved in their communities gave me much pride. This gathering was very inspirational.” —UPLAN Member

“There are many amazing partners in this space, it is incredible to share space with so many organizations across the nation who are collectively doing similar work that serves families. I appreciated the workshops to learn more about what specific organizations do, so I can learn and grow as a leader in my own organization. The day at the Hill was the highlight, it's an experience that parents and staff do not often get to do.” —UPLAN Member
