UPLAN traveled to Washington D.C. for the Child Care for Working Families Act Reintroduction! Parent leaders Sara Morrison from Family Leadership Network – Choice for All and Krystina Cummins from Washington State Association of Head Start & ECEAP (WSA) Parent Ambassadors spoke during a press conference on February 26 and shared their experiences with child care and early learning. You can watch the press conference by clicking here.
“It was powerful to know that the Senators standing with us and people in the audience are with us, fighting for high quality, accessible child care and early education for all,” Krystina said.
While in D.C., parents also brought their voices to legislators on Capitol Hill. Additionally, UPLAN was represented at the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Public Policy Forum where Sara gave a speech calling for greater unity among child care providers and parents to fight for child care for all. “Parents have voices, and we matter!” Sara commented.
UPLAN will continue to advocate for policies that increase accessibility and quality of child care and early learning programs for our children. If you would like to get more involved in UPLAN’s child care and early learning campaign, contact us.
