Who We Are

parents working together

our purpose

We are fired up about working together for a national impact. In UPLAN, we, as parents, are in the lead, setting the agenda, and defining the tools to build our power on behalf of children and families. Across the country, policies and practices are harming our communities. So we come together as a national, united voice for parent action. Let’s take the driver’s seat on issues that affect our families, and join together for all our communities.

It’s common sense. If you talk with people who know us, they will tell you we know what we are talking about, and we know how to make our voices heard. The next administration, policymakers and political officials need to listen to the voice of those most affected as they make critical decisions about our families.

In our communities and our organizations, we know first hand what a difference it makes when we are part of the creation, implementation, and evaluation of public policies and programs. We want to share what we know works on parent leadership and organizing and help others—including professionals—understand issues from a parent’s perspective.

The outcome of this could change the world, literally. What parents can do when they are connected, empowered and leading in a way that’s meaningful to them and to the people that they know and/or represent, would change the world.
